Checking In

I have to use Firefox instead of Safari to post, but I like Firefox a lot, so no problem.

They have Afros, but no Jewfros.

When I was 12 my parents moved . . .

but I found them again when I was 17!


That's kind of the way I feel today, except I found you guys a bit faster.

I'll check in, too. But I'm kind of disoriented because the interface is so different. I feel a bit like Bob Dylan's "rolling stone."

I'm going to bed now but I will say goodnight to BIT, Skoop, Hermillion and Jess. Love the fact that I can log in and see who is on-line. Also like the fact that you can private message someone.

Are people really going to want all the different "subjects" instead of a single Bored?

I am here. I don't really understand why there are so many different subforums. It just makes things confusing and hard to navigate. Why not just have one main forum and let people talk about whatever they want to talk about, like it was before?

I agree. Maybe we'll get used to it, but it will certainly take some time.

I tend to agree. I rather liked reading all the posts and responses about everything in one, long, stream-of-consciousness thread. It's too bad there's not an option for a thread "dump" (similar to the flat view on the bored board) in which all unread posts can be seen in one place.

You do have the option to view all threads with new messages since your last visit.

So is this the main board left? And can I delete the abc board now?

I don't see a specific command to do this. I just see that all the categories and forums and subforums that have new posts are highlighted (but only if you have signed in) and that you then have to repeatedly burrow down through each category individually to find out what the new posts are. It requires an awful lot of clicking. Am I missing something?

Is there an easier way to accomplish this under the current layout, without just merging all the subdivisions into a single forum? If all of these separate subforums are really a good idea, who decides what new divisions we will have and how many there will be? Will we have separate divisions to talk about our kids, our pets, our sick relatives, our favorite TV shows, etc? And will those forums be subdivided into separate categories, such as dogs vs. cats, sitcoms vs. dramas, etc?

I'm not showing any new posts since about 2:30 this afternoon. I was logged on from my school computer, and when I checked in there from time-to-time I could see the little "new posts" icon. Now everything is grey (except I still have the blue ball that shows I have posted in that topic), and it looks like nobody is there.

Is there something exciting on television that I'm missing???
