$4K: Venus is one syllable?! <grumble>®

$16K: My instinct before the choices came up was California, but I would've ATA just to confirm it.

LOL

On 5th Grader, Jeff Foxworthy would have been sure to rub the contestant's nose in this mistake, but Meredith let it go by without comment. Now we'll never know how many in the audience went allong with Todd's misleading guess and how many remembered Earth.

I will consider that $500 question to be a shout-out to Jaybeecon, even if they didn't mention him by name. Surprised

$200- A long-running series of public service ads starred crash-test dummies Vince and Larry urging people to do what?

A. Read books B. Register to vote

C. Fight racism D. Wear seat belts

I guess it didn't work. Why else did they need the new "Click it or ticket" law enforcement campaign.

$1000- "Tootsy" is a slang term for what part of the body?

A. Foot B. Nose

C. Thumb D. Chin

This is news to me. I thought it was toe.

$2000- Which of these "smushed" singer names overlaps by one letter and not two?

A. Waynewton B. Placidomingo

C. Ericlapton D. Chrisaak

$2K seems to be the figure-outer one.

$4000- How many planets in our solar system have one-syllable names?

A. 1 B. 2

C. 3 D. 4

Make that the $4K .... Let's see -- Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, Uranus, Pluto. B, final answer.

$8000- Which of these Mexican dishes consists of cornmeal and other ingredients wrapped and cooked inside a cornhusk?

A. Tamales B. Nachos

C. Fajitas D. Enchiladas

Ooh, that's coming up. The annual Halloween carnival at a local school, where you can eat the tamales right there and then order more for Christmas.

OK, "rubbing the monkey" has a meaning that I'm sure didn't escape anyone in the audience, or Meredith either, for that matter. I'm surprised the censors let them get away with it. But it was a cute bit.

$1K - I always thought "tootsie" (spelled that way) was a slang term for the toes, not the foot. But from the answers, there was only one logical choice.

$4K - When Todd said he could only think of two, and named Venus as one of them, I wondered if he was saying he could only think of two planets, or two planets with one syllable. Surely he realized that Venus has two syllables.

$16K - I thought it was in California, but wouldn't have been sure enough to go without a lifeline. I'd try ATA and see what results came up.
